We had another great meeting. We also had some sad news....our Susan Jones (she wore a short wig) lost her battle with cancer in March a few days after would meeting. We will miss her sweet determination and love of embroidery. Terrie and Jan both had a lot of wonderful projects for us. We learned about sewing on vinyl. The right presser foot makes all the difference. If you do not use a vinyl foot, painters tape will work also.

This Carrot is made of paper but I made it using Heavy Duty Wonder Under and fabric. Bond two pieces of orange fabric wrong sides together then do the same with green fabric and follow instruction. I glued a wooden skewer to put in a pot.

Instructions for machine embroidery: For body hoop 2 pieces for fabric wrong sides facing - stitch out - remove from hoop cut out using pinking shears. For wing hoop sandwich with fabric wrong sides facing fabric, batting in the middle - stitch out - remove from hoop cut out using pinking shears. Stuff body - add beak and top ribbon - stitch closed. Sew on wings and button eyes.

Wash and Wear Pouch (I made a simplified version making it like a pillow case with both ends open then attaching a zipper on each end and a 2 gallon ziplock bag inside one end for items to be washed.
It could even be made totally from diaper cover fabric.The wash side just needs to be waterproof.
